ROAD SIGNS
(Simmers)
Driving down the
highway, staring at the sky
Wondering just how
far the day will take me
Don’t know what
moves me on, just something deep inside
A feeling that I
feel in time may break me
And the painted lines,
crooked pines and road signs pass me by
And ask me “Where ya going, where ya been?”
And in the wind is echoin’ a casual reply
“Someday I might be
back this way again”
It’s only time you’re wasting, following a dream
And time’s the only
thing in life worth wasting
Though time is
moving faster now, or that’s the way it seems
A dream’s the only
thing in life worth chasing
Well it’s time that
I move on again, another road sign passed
Another place I just
can’t seem to stay
Someday I hope to
settle down with something that will last
Without the fears we
conquer on the way
The sun is fading
softly now, to end another day
Tomorrow brings
another day of learning
Sometimes I try to
slow things down, and wish my cares away
But time goes on and
this old world keeps turning
And as time goes by,
so do I, with old friends on my mind
I wonder where I’ll
end up when I’m done
And the road signs
pass me by, like the memories of my life
I kick up dust and
drive until they’re gone
